So many times, the balance of being plus size as well as stylish has been challenged and even if the plus size community is winning so far with hashtags such as #effyourbeautystandards, #beautyincurves and so on, we still have a lot of work to do… Big girls have been taunted about wearing tutu/tulle skirts, its been claimed that we look amorphous in them, I completely disagree. Style is an expression of our definitions of beauty, strengths and vulnerabilities.
Over time, I have noticed that the beauty of an ensemble isn’t just the exterior but heart, soul and mind deep. Whatever we feel on the inside, will reflect on the outside. Its kinda hard to accept certain flaws or supposed imperfections but it really is what makes us perfect. I have learned that there’s beauty in the littlest things but most importantly that I am ENOUGH , that I AM BEAUTIFUL ON THE INSIDE.. Of course the way I look matters but its more about the way one feels and I feel like a beautiful fairy.
I rocked my skirt and enjoyed the nostalgia of feeling like a child again. Innocence is beautiful and doesn’t necessarily mean weakness nor vulnerability so embrace it, next time you have the urge, splurge..
